Henry Clay’s preschool programs prepare students for life in elementary school and beyond.
Early Childhood Special Education
Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) programs provide instruction to children identified as having a disability and eligible for special education services. The ECSE classrooms are language-based with an emphasis on problem solving, social engagement, language development, literacy, pre-writing and math activities, and behavior management. We individualize the programs to address the unique needs of each child as outlined in his/her Individualized Education Program (IEP).
Please direct all questions regarding special education services at Henry Clay Elementary to Christy Grigg, assistant principal.
Hanover Preschool Initiative
Hanover Preschool Initiative (HPI) is an early childhood development program open to three- and four-year-old children who meet eligibility requirements. We have designed this program to promote a child's school readiness skills and social competencies through attention to health (medical, dental, and mental), education, family support, community collaboration, and parental involvement. The program is funded through Head Start and the Virginia Preschool Initiative.
